About Indego Consulting
Established in 2007, Indego (Innovative Development and Governance) provides consulting services specialising in decentralisation, local government, economic development, rural development and human settlements. Prior to the establishment of Indego, the sole proprietor, Karen Harrison, had nine years of experience in management positions in national and local government and twelve years experience in the non-profit sector in these same fields.
Indego is guided by the values of good governance and citizenship, professionalism, innovation, integration, integrity and passion.
Karen Harrison, operating as Indego, has her Masters in Development Studies and has 23 years experience in the public and non-profit sectors. She has been responsible for the management of both community-based development programmes and large national development programmes. Karen has worked within policy, implementation and advisory positions. She has developed specific expertise in urban and rural economic development, decentralisation and the local sphere of government. She is currently a member of the national Panel advising the Minister of Human Settlements on accreditation and assignment of municipalities for the administration of national housing programmes. Karen is also part of a national peer review panel on human settlements established by the Department of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation.
Indego’s Ownership and Staffing Structure
Indego is run as a sole proprietorship and owned by Karen Harrison. Indego does not have any full time staff, instead it works in association with a range of other consultants and service providers.
